MIND'S EYE

Way back then, when she was blind,
didn't realize, couldn't recognize
Choices made without information,
without confirmation
Juggling, struggling,
with so much bungling.

The mind's eye sees the things
that young girl could not
Slide projector pictures
of the life that she bought
Paid for with miles and smiles,
all the while
Holding a small hand,
giving up the gold band.
Didn't ever once think about the strife,
only the life
Given this gift, trying to find the light,
get it right
Somehow knew, without a clue,
what had come due.

The mind's eye sees the things
that young girl could not
Slide projector pictures of
the life that she bought
Realizing now that strength, at length
Came from up above, she was greatly loved.
Always trusting things would work out,
albeit with some doubt
The woman looks back, her voice cracks,
faith never lacks
Just blocked from view, challenged to find anew,
she grew.

The woman's heart has cried,
soul has survived
She wouldn't change a thing,
she's learned to sing.
The girl sees only bright brown eyes,
sighs at the skies
No hardships seen or what might have been
Intuitively senses, without pretenses,
His intentions.

The courage sent from God Almighty,
always lightly
Lifted her up, kept her there,
